Soroptimist International of Chelan is proud to present the Chelan Chase, a 5K run/walk in Chelan, Washington, with proceeds equally benefiting the Lake Chelan Community Hospital Mammography Department and the Chelan Douglas Relay for Life / American Cancer Society.
Lake Chelan Community Hospital - The Chelan Chase donates 50% of its proceeds to the LLCH Mammography Department to provide diagnostic services at no personal cost to all individuals who are uninsured or under-insured.
Chelan Douglas Relay for Life - The Chelan Chase donates 50% of its proceeds to the Chelan Douglas Relay For Life. Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's signature activity. It offers everyone in a community a chance to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at a local high school, park or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length. Team members share a common purpose — to support the American Cancer Society’s mission.

Soroptimist International of Chelan - Soroptimist is an international volunteer service organization for women who work to improve the lives of women and girls, both locally and globally. Some of SI Chelan’s many community projects include providing college education scholarships for local students and those seeking continuing education. SI Chelan sponsors the Chelan Chase, our largest fundraiser.

FINANCIAL RESULTS OF THE CHELAN CHASE 2009
The 2009 Chelan Chase registered 262 participants, an increase over 2008 in spite of hard economic times. We had 37 Corporate Sponsors who provided financial support or in-kind goods, and 38 additional businesses that donated goods and amenities for Chase participants. Our partnerships increased Chase contributions and also increased our Soroptimist visibility in the community. Numerous volunteers participated, including Chelan High School students, local fire, police and utility departments, and many individuals within the community. The 2009 Chelan Chase realized total income of $32,610.45; our total expenses were $6,740.95, for a net of $25,869.50. SI Chelan will donate $12,000 to the Lake Chelan Community Hospital and $12,000 to the American Cancer Society’s Chelan Douglas Relay for Life, for a TOTAL of $24,000.
