CHELAN CHASE  Soroptimist International of Chelan is proud to present the CHELAN CHASE, a 5K run/walk in Chelan, Washington, with proceeds equally benefiting the Lake Chelan Community Hospital Mammography Department and the Chelan Douglas Relay for Life / American Cancer Society. 

LAKE CHELAN COMMUNITY HOSPITAL The LCCH Mammography Department provides local accessibility to diagnostic services that include screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultra-sound, surgical and ultrasound-guided biopsy.  Proceeds from the Chelan Chase provide these services at no cost to all individuals who are uninsured or under-insured and who are living in Public Hospital District No. 2 (covering the areas from Stehekin to Chelan Falls and Union Valley). 

CHELAN DOUGLAS RELAY FOR LIFE  Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's signature activity. It offers everyone in a community a chance to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at a local high school, park or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length. Team members share a common purpose — to support the American Cancer Society’s mission.

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the ACS has state divisions and more than 3,400 local offices

MAKING STRIDES  The 6th annual Making Strides event in Chelan will be Saturday, September 6, 2008, 3:00-7:00pm, at Balsamroot Winery, Chelan.  It will feature a BBQ dinner, wine glass and charm, no host bar featuring Balsamroot Winery, live music by Deja VooDoo, and raffles.  All proceeds benefit the Chelan Chase. 

SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL OF CHELAN  Soroptimist is an international volunteer service organization for women who work to improve the lives of women and girls, both locally and globally.  Some of SI Chelan’s many community projects include providing college education scholarships for local students and those seeking continuing education.  Our largest fundraiser, SI Chelan sponsors the Chelan Chase.
